The Downtown Revitalization Program offers a chance for commercial property owners and tenants within the Downtown Garland Historic District to enhance their buildings. Through this program, participants have the opportunity to receive a reimbursement grant covering up to 50% of the approved improvements made. Projects must undergo evaluation by the Downtown Design Review Committee and obtain approval before beginning any work. Upon project completion, an inspection will be conducted to ensure compliance with the approved plan. Subsequently, the property owner can proceed to request and receive a reimbursement check.

  • Arrange a meeting with the Downtown Coordinator to assess project eligibility

  • Submit the completed application and required documents to the Downtown Development Office (DDO).

  • Schedule an appointment for a comprehensive application review with the Downtown Design Review Committee.

  • If the application receives approval, execute the Economic Development Agreement and return it to the DDO.

  • Upon receiving written notification from the DDO, begin and finalize project construction.

  • Within 30 days of completing construction and passing the project inspection to ensure adherence to the approved plan, submit proof of expenses to the DDO along with a reimbursement request.
